James C Creevey (1873 - 1967) - Irish Chess Champion

 

Between 1926 and 1936 an annual chess match was played between the cities of Belfast and Dublin, the first of these in Belfast on 6th February 1926. James was a member of the visiting Dublin team which won that first competition.

In 1933 he went on to become the Irish Chess Champion a title that he successfully defended in 1934.
